  • Sabha Salamah, J.D.

    NNS Board President; Legal Advisor

    Sabha Salamah is a proud Palestinian-American with a background in public policy, law, and community organizing. She works as an eviction defense attorney.

    Sabha is dedicated to creating inclusive, equitable, and just communities by listening to and empowering folks.

    She earned her law degree from the University of San Francisco, where she was named Advocate of the Year, won Best Oralist in a national moot court competition, and worked as a Teaching Assistant to first-year students. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Public Policy and Law from the University of Southern California, while co-founding MuralProject LA, a CNN-recognized initiative that centered the community’s storytelling through raising awareness of the value of public art.

    As a mother of three young children, Sabha has a deep interest and commitment to outdoor education and is honored to serve on the Board of NOLA Nature School. When she’s not working, Sabha enjoys baking, reading, and gardening.

  • Lissie Stewart

    NNS Board Vice President; Fundraising & Creative Outreach Advisor

    Lissie Stewart, M.Ed

    Lissie Stewart is the Founder & Executive Director of NOLA Artist Incubator, a nonprofit focused on arts, education and sustainability. Lissie’s background is in art education, where she worked for ten years as a teaching artist in NOLA public schools. She is a TeachNOLA Master Teacher and oversaw the Talented Visual Arts Department and Advanced Placement Studio Art program, while working at Edna Karr. After leaving the classroom to raise her daughter, she obtained her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and continues to work with students as a State Certified Evaluator of Talented Art and through facilitating the nonprofit’s educational programs.

    She advocates for sustainable urban agriculture and the environment through running the Galvez Garden, an award winning USDA People’s Garden that she established located in St. Roch. In addition to the NOLA Nature School Board, Lissie serves as a committee member for Sprout. She is a 4.0 Schools Tiny Fellow, certified Louisiana Master Gardener, and certified Permaculture Designer (Oregon State University). 

    After completing her most recent Artist-in-Residency at the Louisiana Children’s Museum, Lissie’s newest installation, as a featured artist in the Committee for a Better New Orleans Civic Art Challenge, demonstrates her continued exploration of themes in nature through her artwork. She’s currently excited about focusing on her upcoming artist invitationals, growing more gardens, and facilitating more accessible youth art programming throughout New Orleans.

  • Samille Ganges

    NNS Social Media Outreach; Community Engagement Advisor

    Samille is an unschooling mother, theatre artist, storyteller, singer, breathwork practitioner, land worker, and community liaison that is interested in intentional liberation practices, deep environmental care and artistic expression. 

    She has a background in teaching, being a youth development facilitator, working in different non-profits, consulting, farming and artistic direction.  On the board of Nola Nature School she is the community ties coordinator and helps to run their social media.  Samille believes that education should begin outside and is excited to help propel Nola Nature School as a leader in alternative education  in New Orleans.
